Nursing home faces suit alleging wrongful death

Nursing

PRINCETON — A Mason County woman is suing Princeton Health Care Center, claiming the nursing home's neglect of her mother’s care contributed to her death.

Jo Ann Miller, as personal representative of the estate of Mary Yates, filed a lawsuit on Feb. 1 in Mercer Circuit Court against Princeton Memorial Co., doing business as Princeton Health Care Center, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Yates resided at the defendant’s facility from Nov. 9, 2012, to April 20, 2014, to receive care and assistance with daily living activities. During her stay, the suit claims Yates fell and suffered nasal fractures, lacerations and bruising, ultimately contributing to her death on April 20, 2014. The claim asserts that Yates’ injuries were caused by negligence on the part of Princeton’s staff.

Miller seeks a jury trial and damages in an amount to be determined at trial. She is represented by attorneys Andrew L. Paternostro and Jeff D. Stewart of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
