CHARLESTON — A woman is suing the West Virginia Department of Corrections, a parole officer identified as Officer Cain and his supervisor or supervisors, identified as John Doe, alleging sexual harassment and abuse by Cain.

Angela Hammons filed a complaint on May 2 in Kanawha Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that when Cain served as the woman's parole officer, he used his position to sexually abuse, harass and exploit her.

The plaintiff is suing Cain for his alleged actions, and the agency and supervisor or supervisors for alleged failure to monitor and discipline Cain to guarantee the plaintiff's safety and protection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount to fully and fairly compensate her for damages, compensatory and punitive, including court costs, attorney fees, and such and further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Michael A. Woelfel of Woelfel and Woelfel, LLP in Huntington.
