BECKLEY — A former store manager is suing a Raleigh County business, alleging discrimination and failure to pay in a timely fashion.
Beverly Farrish filed a complaint Feb. 21 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Little General Store Inc. alleging violation of the Wage Payment and Collection Act and the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, on July 28, 2016, Farrish, 59, was involuntarily terminated after more than three decades of employment. The suit says she has suffered lost wages and benefits, humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress.
The plaintiff alleges Little General Store subjected Farrish to adverse employment actions, terminated her employment and replaced her with a younger employee and failed to timely pay all the wages she earned during her employment.
Farrish seeks trial by jury, re-employment, compensatory and punitive damages, interest, costs of court and all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Philip Estep, Todd S. Bailess and Rodney A. Smith of Bailess Smith PLLC in Charleston.
