CHARLESTON — An employee is suing American Water Works Service Company, American Water Works Company Inc., West Virginia-American Water Company and Jeff McIntyre, citing alleged age and disability discrimination.
Harry Lee White filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court alleging that his employer refused to grant him an interview for a position he applied for due to his age and/or disability.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who was 56 years old at the time, alleges that he suffered damages from experiencing discrimination during his employment.
In Feb. 2017, White applied for the position of Superintendent II, which he claims he met all of the requirements for. The plaintiff listed that he suffers from PTSD on his application. The company allegedly declined to interview White and hired a younger candidate, who reportedly had no management experience.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly subjecting the plaintiff to an adverse employment decision due to his age and/or disability.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, lost wages and benefits, all general damages, punitive damages, legal fees and any other relief this court deems just.
