FAYETTEVILLE – A Fayette County woman alleges she incurred thousands in medical bills after she was assaulted.

Donna Machele Abbott filed a complaint July 19 in Fayette Circuit Court against town of Montgomery, Melody Jeffries Williams, Jerry Jeffries, Parris Workman and T. White alleging assault.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 3, 2016, she was attacked, assaulted and battered by Williams and Jeffries without provocation. The suit states that Workman and White, in their duties as police officers, permitted the defendants to assault her. She alleges she sustained injuries that required medical treatment and incurred medical bills in excess of $30,000.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount that will sufficiently compensate her for her injuries and damages, attorney's fees, costs and interest and such other appropriate relief. She is represented by James W. Keenan of Keenan & Associates LC in Fayetteville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge John W. Hatcher Sr.
