CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County woman alleges that she was not paid her severance pay after termination from Macy's in a timely manner.
Linsey Light filed a complaint July 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Macy's Corporate Services Inc. alleging that the support services provider violated the Wage Payment and Collection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was formerly employed at one of the defendant's retail stores. She states that she allowed Macy's to terminate her employment under its Macy's Inc. Separation Plan/General Separation, which stipulated that she would receive severance pay. She alleges she was due to receive $2,700 as a benefit no later than the end of February. She alleges she did not receive it until May 8.
The plaintiff seeks liquidated damages and interest on the late-paid severance pay, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Mark A. Toor in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
