MORGANTOWN – A Cameron woman alleges she had to leave her job as a cook because of a hostile work environment.
Kelly Chambers filed a complaint Sept. 11 in Monongalia Circuit Court against Country Road 3060 Inc., doing business as International House of Pancakes; Alexander Ares; and George Lopez alleging a hostile work environment, gender discrimination and tort of outrage.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by Country Road 3060 Inc. as a cook in October 2016. The suit states Lopez was the store manager. She alleges Ares made inappropriate and uncomfortable sexual comments and unwanted sexual advances toward her and that she reported it three times to Lopez but nothing was done. She alleges that as a result of defendants' actions, she voluntarily terminated her employment on May 6.
The plaintiff holds Country Road 3060 Inc., Ares and Lopez responsible because she was allegedly treated in a disparate manner because of her gender and that the defendants allegedly failed to correct the hostile work environment.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount that will adequately compensate her, plus punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs, interest and any other relief that the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Erika Klie Kolenich of Klie Law Offices PLLC in Buckhannon.
