WEST UNION – A 56-year-old Jackson County woman alleges that she was not hired for a teaching position because of her age.

Connie Scarbrough filed a complaint Sept. 15 in Doddridge Circuit Court against Doddridge County Board of Education and Gregory Kuhns alleging that they violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 22 she applied for a position of agricultural educator at defendants' school district. She alleges that during the interview, she was asked inappropriate questions about her age. The suit states that a less-qualified and younger applicant was chosen for the position.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs, interest and all other general and appropriate relief. She is represented by Kristina Thomas Whiteaker and David L. Grubb of The Grubb Law Group in Charleston.
