Woman alleges white substance on Walmart floor caused her to fall

Slip01

CHARLESTON – A Princeton Walmart shopper alleges she was injured when she slipped on a substance in the store.

Linda K. Hudson filed a complaint Sept. 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, doing business as Walmart Supercenter, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 4, 2016, she was shopping with her daughter-in-law at the Walmart Supercenter in Princeton when she slipped on a slippery white substance on the floor, believed to be mayonnaise. She alleges she hit her head on a freezer case, landed hard on the floor and sustained injuries to her left elbow, shoulder and knee.

The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores East LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount to be proven at trial, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Eric J. Buckner and Russell A. Williams of Katz, Kantor, Stonestreet & Buckner PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
