MORGANTOWN – A Masontown woman alleges she was subjected to age and gender discrimination while working for a Morgantown store.
Beth A. Witt filed a complaint Oct. 23 in Monongalia Circuit Court against BFS Foods Inc., Howard Goodstein and Charles Moyer alleging that they violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by BFS as an assistant store manager at its Morgantown store in October 2016. The suit states that on July 25, she was terminated from her employment. Goodstein is BFS's chief financial officer and Moyer is a manager at another BFS location, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds BFS Foods Inc., Goodstein and Moyer responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected her to disparate treatment, denial of promotions and termination because of her gender and for being the oldest employee at her place of employment and replaced her with a younger, lesser-qualified male.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court with interest, attorneys' fees, costs, expenses and all other relief as the court deems just.
