Former Peoples Bank executive alleges he was wrongfully terminated

Wrongful term 08

HUNTINGTON – A former high-ranking bank executive alleges he was wrongfully terminated.

Robert A. Van Nostrand filed a complaint Oct. 24 in Cabell Circuit Court against Peoples Bank alleging wrongful termination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began his employment with the defendant in June 2010 and as of his termination in October 2015, served as senior vice president, South Region Commercial Banking Lead and market executive for Huntington.

The plaintiff holds Peoples Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated his employment for his refusal to participate in defendant's fraud, bad faith and violation of fiduciary responsibilities towards borrowers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for lost wages and benefits, plus punitive damages, costs, attorney's fees and any further relief as the court may deem appropriate. He is represented by Walt Auvil and Kirk Auvil of The Employment Law Center PLLC in Parkersburg. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
