Man files discrimination complaint against TSI Corp. after losing job

Wrongful term 10

CLARKSBURG – A Kanawha County employer is alleged to have discriminated against a former employee because of his age and disability.

Alva Sansom filed a complaint on Dec. 1, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia against TSI Corp., also known as TSICorp, alleging that the former employer violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired in 2012 to work in maintenance for the defendant at the West Virginia National Guard Training Center at the Memorial Tunnel in Standard. The suit states in 2014, he underwent treatments for cancer and in 2016, needed surgery. The suit states he was terminated in early 2016 while he was in the intensive care unit at the age of 63.

The plaintiff holds TSI Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him because of his age and disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive and liquidated damages, reinstatement and/or front pay, attorney fees, costs and all further relief as the court deems just and equitable. He is represented by Allan N. Karlin and Jane E. Peak of Allan N. Karlin & Associates in Morgantown.
