CHARLESTON – Three lawsuits have been filed against Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College after the plaintiffs claim the college failed to pay their wages in a timely manner.
Robert Gunter was also named as a defendant in the suits.
Martha Maynard, Steven Hall, Steven Lacek were employed by the defendants—Maynard until June and Hall and Lacek until February, according to three complaints filed Nov. 17 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
At the time of their terminations, they were owed wages and accrued fringe benefits, however, the defendants failed and refused to pay them their outstanding wages and accrued fringe benefits within the statutory time frame afforded for the payment of such wages and benefits, according to the suits.
The plaintiffs claim in the fall, they attempted to secure the unpaid wages and accrued fringe benefits and were finally paid a portion of the outstanding wages and benefits.
The plaintiffs have suffered damages as a result of the defendants’ late payment of wages and benefits, according to the suits.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by Mark A. Toor.
The cases are assigned to Circuit Judges Louis Bloom and Joanna Tabit.
