PINEVILLE – A shopper at the Dollar General Store in Oceana alleges she was injured when several boxes fell on her.

Virginia Lafferty filed a complaint Feb. 9 in Wyoming Circuit Court against Dolgencorp LLC, doing business as Dollar General Store, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 11, 2016, she was a business invitee at defendant's store and was injured when several boxes of glass jars fell off a shelf and on her.

The plaintiff holds Dolgencorp LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect its premises for any unsafe conditions, failed to make it safe and failed to warn its guests that such danger existed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, costs and any further relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Timothy P. Lupardus of Lupardus Law Office in Pineville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Warren R. McGraw.
