Man alleges he was injured when Milton police cruiser struck another vehicle

Car accident 15

HUNTINGTON – A Huntington man alleges he was injured when the police vehicle he was in was involved in a collision.

Dana Young filed a complaint in Cabell Circuit Court against Sean Beckett and the City of Milton alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 2, 2016, he was a passenger in a Milton police cruiser driven by Beckett when Beckett carelessly switched lanes and struck another vehicle on U.S. Route 60 in Milton. At the time of the collision, the suit states the plaintiff was handcuffed and was not using a seat belt. As a result, the plaintiff alleges he was violently thrown inside the vehicle and received injuries.

The plaintiff holds Beckett and the city of Milton responsible because defendant Beckett allegedly committed lane violations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, plus interest, litigation costs and all further relief that the court may deem appropriate. He is represented by Kenneth P. Hicks of Kenneth P. Hicks LC in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul T. Farrell.
