Woman blames Eldercare of Jackson County for father’s death

Medical malpractice 03

CHARLESTON – A woman is suing Eldercare of Jackson County after she claims it is responsible for her father’s death.

On Nov. 5, 2015, Arthur B. Long Jr. was admitted to Eldercare, according to a complaint filed Dec. 18 in Jackson Circuit Court and removed to federal court on March 2.

Tiffiny Long claims the defendant was negligent in its care for Arthur Long and caused him serious injuries, which resulted in pain and suffering.

Eldercare failed to keep Arthur Long’s family members fully informed of his total health status and his medical conditions during his residency, according to the suit.

Tiffiny Long claims the defendant also failed to provide a sufficient number of staff to provide adequate and appropriate nursing care to its residents.

Eldercare is responsible for Arthur Long’s wrongful death, according to the suit.

Tiffiny Long claims her father suffered from systemic abuse and neglect causing significant injuries, ultimately leading or contributing to his death on Feb. 15, 2016.

Tiffiny Long is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by Jeff D. Stewart and Andrew L. Paternostro of Stewart Bell PLLC.

The defendant is represented by Mark A. Robinson, Ryan A. Brown and Megan F. Bosak of Flaherty, Sensabaugh & Bonasso.
