NEW CUMBERLAND — A Chester couple is suing an automobile manufacturer, alleging breach of warranty and strict product liability.

Ashley N. Turley and Tyler Turley filed a complaint March 1 in Hancock Circuit Court against FCA US LLC, also known as Fiat Chrysler Automobile, and Hancock County Automotive LLC, alleging they failed to install laminated glass that can protect its occupants from any injuries.

According to the complaint, on Jan. Jan. 5, 2016, the Turleys bought a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. On March 4, 2016, the suit says, Colten Fryer was driving the vehicle and Ashley Turley was a passenger. The lawsuit states the driver lost control of the vehicle and caused it to leave the road and sideswipe a tree on the passenger side.

As a result, Turley's right arm came out the window, striking a tree, causing her to sustain catastrophic injuries to the arm. Ashley Turley also says suffered injuries to her upper extremities, right shoulder joint, traumatic shock and loss of feeling with her three fingers and leg.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants recklessly installed their vehicle with a cheaper tampered glass in order to save money at the expense of human lives and limbs.

The Turleys seek trial by jury, damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest, court costs and all further relief the court permits. They are represented by attorneys Peter D. Friday and Kevin S. Burger of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
