Three family members blame trailer owner, driver for crash

WHEELING — Three family members are suing a tractor trailer owner and driver, alleging negligence and negligent entrustment.

Jodi Ann Shackelford, Jeffrey Shackelford and Bethani A. Shackelford filed a complaint March 7 in Ohio Circuit Court against Indy Freight Inc. and Sandeep Badwalsingh, alleging Indy Freight failed to properly train and supervise its employee.

According to the complaint, on March 13, 2016, Jodi Ann Shackelford was driving in one car and Jeffrey Shackelford and Bethani A. Shackelford were traveling in another on Interstate 70 West in Ohio County. The suit says Badwalsingh negligently drove an Indy Freight tractor trailer, causing a chain reaction in which the plaintiffs' vehicles were struck and damaged. 

The plaintiffs say they suffered injuries, annoyance, pain and anguish and inconvenience. They allege Badwalsingh failed to maintain control of the vehicle he was driving and failed to keep proper lookout.

The Shackelfords seek trial by jury, compensatory and general damages, plus interest, attorney fees, costs and all further relief the court deems just and proper. attorney They are represented by James G. Bordas Jr. of Bordas & Bordas PLLC in Wheeling.
