TV station alleges former employee violated contract

PRINCETON — A multimedia company is suing a former employee, alleging breach of his employment contract.

WVVA Television Inc. filed a complaint April 4 in Mercer Circuit Court against James McDowell, alleging he violated his contractual obligations.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 6, 2017, McDowell entered into a talent employment agreement with WVVA for a two-year period. The suit says McDowell left the plaintiff's employment before the end of his two- year contract. As a result of the defendant's actions, the plaintiff alleges it suffered liquidated damages equal to 10 weeks of his rate of pay, the amount of $4,620. 

WVVA Television seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of $4,620, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and all further relief the court deems proper. It is represented by attorney Lawrence E. Morhous of Brewster, Morhous, Cameron, Caruth, Moore, Kersey & Stafford PLLC in Bluefield.
