BECKLEY — Raleigh County residence owners are suing a remodeling company, alleging breach of contract.
Jeffrey L. Blackburn and Shelley D. Blackburn filed a complaint April 6 in Raleigh Circuit Court against New Beginning Contracting LLC, alleging failure to perform work in a good and workmanlike manner.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 5, the Blackburns contracted with New Beginning to perform improvements to their residence and made payments of $105,000. The suit says as a result of the defendant's defective and unfinished work, the plaintiffs have suffered additional costs for the uncompleted work, annoyance, inconvenience and diminution in the value of their residence.
The suit says problems included doors that did not fit openings, unfinished dry walls, six windows with only a single pane and unfinished bathroom fixtures.
The plaintiffs allege New Beginning Contracting failed to finish the contracted work and abandoned their residence in an uninhabitable state.
The Blackburns seek trial by jury and judgment against the defendant in an amount that will sufficiently make them whole. They are represented by attorney A. David Abrams Jr. of Abrams & Byron Attorneys at Law in Beckley.
