BECKLEY — A consumer is suing a national bank, alleging abusive debt collection practices.

Sara Evans filed a complaint April 18 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Synchrony Bank, alleging violation of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

According to the complaint, after Evans became in arrears upon an alleged debt, Synchrony Bank began to engage in illegal collection activities.

As a result, Evans says, she has been annoyed, inconvenienced, harassed, abused and distressed. The plaintiff alleges Synchrony Bank repeatedly and continuously made phone calls at unusual times known to be inconvenient.

Evans seeks trial by jury, all damages, litigation costs and any further relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost and Steven R. Broadwater Jr. of Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard PLLC in Fayetteville.
