BECKLEY — A Coal City customer is suing Dollar General, alleging negligence led to a fall and injuries.

Patricia Grubb filed a complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court against Dollar General Corporation and Dolgen Corp, alleging they allowed the entrance/exit walkway at their Coal City store to become dangerously cracked and uneven.

According to the complaint, on May 16, 2016, Grubb fell on the cracked sidewalk while she was exiting the Dollar General store. She says she suffered mental and body injuries that required medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants had actual knowledge that cracked sidewalk existed prior to Grubb's fall, that they should have noticed it in the exercise of due care and that proper warnings to ensure customers' safety should have been placed.

Grubb seeks trial by jury, damages sufficient to compensate for medical expenses, plus attorney fees, court costs and all relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Russell O. Wooton of Wooton & Wooton in Beckley.
