WHEELING — A Marshall County nursing provider and her spouse are suing a local driver who allegedly ran her over as she stepped off a school bus.

Cansina Galentine and Ronald Galentine filed a complaint in the Ohio Circuit Court against Lesley Antonik and LA Management LLC, doing business as Stadiums Pizza Business Burger & Subs and Ruttenbucks Bar & Grille, alleging that Antonik struck Cansina Galentine with her motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 30, 2016, Cansina Galentine  was struck by a silver sports utility vehicle owned and operated by Antonik as she stepped off an Ohio County school bus. A nursing provider to special needs children who ride the bus, Cansina allegedly suffered serious and permanent injuries. At the time of the incident, Antonik allegedly was driving the vehicle as part of her employment for LA Management.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because Antonik owed a duty to operate the vehicle with reasonable care and in a safe manner consistent with applicable laws.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury; and seek a judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits as compensatory damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest and costs, punitive damages, interest, cost of this action, and such other relief as the court finds reasonable. They are represented by Ronald Zavolta and Jordan M. Laird of Zavolta Law Office in Wheeling.
