WHEELING — An Ohio property owner is suing a Wheeling roofing contractor, alleging breach of contract.

M. Beth McIntyre of Clairesville, Ohio, filed a complaint in Ohio Circuit Court against Paul Norman, doing business as American Roofing, alleging the roofing contractor failed to fulfill its contract in that the work was substandard.

According to the complaint, between May 22-Oct. 2,  2017, McIntyre entered into a contract with American Roofing for the installation of a new roof on her house at 67000 Country Club Road, Clairesville, for which she paid $9,300. However, she says she had to pay another contractor to stabilize the roof.

The suit says McIntyre's property was harmed by soaking walls, insulation and fixtures, which is why she needed to hire another contractor to fix the mediocre work done by American Roofing.

The plaintiff alleges American Roofing performed a substandard job evidenced by the leaking roof, among other unacceptable work, even after the defendant said the roofing job has been completed.

McIntyre seeks trial by jury, the return of the $9,300 she paid the defendant, $5,000 for damage to the property and $1,000 for aggravation and inconvenience. She is represented by attorney L. Jill McIntyre of Jackson Kelly PLLC in Charleston.
