PINEVILLE — A Wyoming County real estate owner is suing logging companies, alleging trespassing.

Anthony Shields filed a complaint in Wyoming Circuit Court against L&H Logging LLC and East River Timber LLC, alleging they negligently and unlawfully trespassed on Shields' real estate property in the Baileyville District.

According to the complaint, on May 11, 2017, Shields was notified by a professional forester that the defendants had trespassed upon his land in the Baileyville District to gain access to and cut down trees. Additionally, the suit says, the defendants have moved, removed, defaced or damaged permanent monuments and trees defining the boundaries between Shields' land and the adjoining property.

The plaintiff alleges L&H Logging and East River Timber ignored clear boundary markers and used heavy equipment to trespass upon Shields's property.

Shields seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, punitive damages, statutory pre-judgment, and post-judgment interests plus cost of suit. He is represented by attorney Sidney H. Bell of Beckley.
