St. Albans man alleges credit bureaus failed to correct inaccurate information on reports

CHARLESTON – A St. Albans consumer alleges there is inaccurate information on his credit reports that has not been corrected dispute his disputes.

Jason Barnette filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Equifax Inc., Trans Union LLC, Experian Information Solutions Inc., et al. alleging negligence, defamation and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he contacted defendants and disputed erroneous personal information and inaccuracies contained in the delinquent accounts listed on his credit reports. He alleges the defendants refused to correct the disputed information.

The plaintiff holds Equifax Inc., Trans Union LLC, Experian Information Solutions Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to utilize reasonable procedures required to ensure maximum accuracy of his credit reports.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, punitive and/or treble damages, fees and costs, statutory relief, prejudgment and post-judgment interests. He is representing himself in court. 

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Daniel Greear.
