CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County resident is suing health care providers, citing alleged negligence.

Sandra J. Hewitt filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Eastbrook Center LLC, Steven F. White, Lawrence Pack, et. al., alleging that they failed to exercise reasonable care in staffing and monitoring patients and caused her to suffer physical and emotional trauma.

According to the complaint, Hewitt alleges that between Dec. 30, 2016, and Jan. 3, 2017, while at the facility, she was physically assaulted, battered and verbally abused.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly breached their duty to act as a reasonably prudent individual and/or company and failed to manage the facility and treat her following the acceptable standard of care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount exceeding the minimum jurisdictions of the court, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and other further relief the Court may deem just. She is represented by Amy Herrenkohl of Herrenkohl Law Office in Barboursville.
