Truck driver sues former employer for retaliatory discharge

Lawsuits
Wrongful term 07

WINFIELD — A truck driver is suing Central Van & Storage Inc. and Peter Weil, former employers, citing alleged retaliation and wrongful discharge.

George W. Murdock filed a complaint against the defendants in Putnam Circuit Court, alleging retaliatory and adverse employment actions. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges that on March 8, 2018, he was unlawfully terminated from his employment despite performing his duties in a satisfactory manner. Murdock claims that he has suffered and continues to suffer economic damages, mental pain, emotional distress and embarrassment.

The plaintiff holds Central Van & Storage Inc. and Peter Weil responsible because the defendants allegedly retaliated against him and terminated his employment for making safety-related complaints and for refusing to drive an unsafe truck. The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all remedies afforded under the law, with interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other just and equitable relief.

Murdock is represented by Rodney A. Smith, Todd S. Bailess and Jeffrey A. Foster of Bailess Smith PLLC in Charleston.
