Kroger shopper alleges liquid on floor of self-checkout area caused fall

CHARLESTON – A Charleston man alleges he was injured at a grocery store in the city because of liquid on the floor.

James W. Ivy Jr. filed a complaint June 4 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Kroger Limited Partnership I alleging negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was a patron at the defendant's Charleston store on June 10, 2017. The plaintiff alleges he was walking in the self-checkout area and slipped and fell because of liquid on the floor.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to clear the liquid and failed to maintain the premises.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Michael T. Clifford in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer Bailey.
