Terminated technician files age discrimination suit against Preston Memorial Hospital

WINFIELD – A Tunnelton woman alleges she was treated unfairly because of her age while employed by a hospital and was terminated after complaining of the treatment.

Rebecca Holt filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against Preston Memorial Hospital Corp., doing business as Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, alleging age discrimination.

The suit states that the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a surgery technician in its operating room. She alleges during the course of her employment, she was subjected to unfair treatment due to her age, which is older than 40.

On July 26, 2017, the plaintiff alleges she reported the treatment to human resources and was terminated the same day for alleged code of conduct violations.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John F. Gianola and James A. Gianola of Gianola, Barnum, Bechtel & Jecklin LC in Morgantown.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Steven L. Shaffer.
