WHEELING — A man is suing Jochum Refuse Services for wrongfully terminating his employment.
George Burress was employed by the defendant and during his employment, he was subjected to racial slurs by an employee named Josh, according to a complaint filed in Ohio Circuit Court.
Burress claims during a shift with Josh, he observed Josh snorting drugs off of a clipboard and when Burress complained to the supervisor about the racial slurs and Josh's behavior, he was maliciously and unlawfully terminated from his employment.
The defendant's actions constitute a retaliatory discharge, according to the suit. Burress claims he was also subjected to racial harassment and a hostile work environment.
Burress is seeking compensatory damages. He is represented by Mark A. Atkinson and John-Mark Atkinson of Atkinson & Polak.
