LOGAN - A Logan County woman is suing a local doctor and the health department, stating they failed in their due diligence of her treatment.

Lesa Sheridan filed a lawsuit Oct. 10 in the Logan County Circuit Court against Kriengkrai Kitiphongspattana and the Logan County Health Department.

According to the complaint, Sheridan came under the care of defendant Kitiphongspattana in September 2009 following an abnormal mammogram conducted by the health department the previous month.

The defendant doctor was allegedly supposed to perform a needle biopsy to test for cancer, but the biopsy was never performed. Sheridan is now suing, claiming the defendants failed to do proper follow up work on the original diagnosis.

Sheridan is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Robert B. Kuenzel.
