Here is an artist's rendering of what BrickStreet's new headquarters will look like when construction is finished.

CHARLESTON – BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Co. broke ground Tuesday at the site of its future offices at Charleston Town Center mall.

Having finalized the purchase of the office space, the private workers' compensation insurance provider will be able to consolidate its operations under one roof.

BrickStreet has purchased more than 110,000 square feet of office space from Charleston Town Center for $9 million. BrickStreet will now renovate the property and hopes to move in by Oct. 1, 2007.

BrickStreet will spend about $10 million to renovate the space. BBL Carlton is the general contractor for the project.
