Byrd's statue in the state Capitol rotunda has 92 red roses representing the length of his life, 57 white roses honoring his years of public service in the U.S. Congress, and a blue ribbon acknowledges his love for the state of West Virginia. In the West entrance of the state Capitol's main building sits this photo, wreath and description, "This wreath is a tribute and a reflection of his legendary commitment to West Virginia and to the Nation."
