CHARLESTON — A resigned employee has filed a class action lawsuit against Marriott, alleging violation of workers compensation acts.
Angela D. Hamad, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint April 3 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Marriott International Hotel Inc., alleging violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act.
According to the complaint, on March 17, Hamad quit her employment at a Marriott in Kanawha County. On the next regular payday, the suit says, Hamad did not receive her paycheck via direct deposit, which was the customary method of being paid.
The plaintiff alleges Marriott International has failed to pay its employees who quit their employment all wages due within the time period required by law.
Hamad seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of up to $75,000, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Rodney A. Smith and Todd S. Bailess of Bailess Smith PLLC in Charleston.
