Couple alleges they were injured when A Plus Rent to Own vehicle backed into their car

WILLIAMSON – A Matewan couple alleges they were injured when a driver stopped in the road and backed into their vehicle.

Douglas Ray Hawkins and Annabelle Hawkins filed the lawsuit against Christopher Michael Ball and A Plus Rent to Own for a car accident that allegedly caused the Hawkinses injuries and damages, according to a complaint filed in Mingo Circuit Court.

The suit states Ball was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Express truck owned by A Plus Rent to Own when he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and collided with the plaintiffs' vehicle pn County Road 49 in Mingo County on June 28, 2018.

The Hawkinses allege they suffered medical expenses, a loss of ability to enjoy life and physical and mental injuries.

The Hawkinses are seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. They are represented by Greg K. Smith of the Law Office of Greg K. Smith in Williamson.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Miki Thompson.
