HUNTINGTON — A couple is suing St. Mary's Medical Center and Dr. Melin Moses for injuries sustained during a hospital admission.
Jimmie Williamson was brought to the emergency room at St. Mary's for confusion and painful urination after a fall at home on Jan. 5, 2020. He was evaluated and diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and sepsis, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.
Jimmie Williamson and Kathryn Williamson claim Moses gave orders for a change in Jimmie Williamson's insulin prescription, and on Jan. 11, 2020, he was given the new dose, but his blood sugar dropped from 195 to 25. He suffered from hypoxemia and hypercapnia failure secondary to hypoglycemic encephalopathy requiring intubation and ventilation.
The Williamsons are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are represented by William M. Tiano of Tiano O'Dell of Charleston.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Gregory Howard.
