CHARLESTON — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit overturned a previous ruling, siding with the Environmental Protection Agency relating to a 2015 lawsuit filed by environmental groups.
CHARLESTON – Four lawsuits against drug distributors for allegedly contributing to the opiate epidemic have been removed to federal court. The lawsuits were filed by Mayor Charles Sparks, on behalf of the town of Kermit; Mayor Vivian Livinggood, on behalf of the town of Gilbert; Mayor Reba Honaker, on behalf of the city of Welch; and the Lincoln County Commission.
WILLIAMSON – Mayor Vivian Livinggood has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the town of Gilbert against the drug wholesalers and the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy for the prescription drug epidemic that has ravaged the state.
RIPLEY – A Jackson County woman claims a car dealer knowingly sold her a defective car, despite it being labeled a “certified pre-owned” vehicle on the lot.
CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals has reversed Kanawha Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman’s dismissal of a lawsuit filed against the Charleston Sanitary Board. J.F. Allen was seeking reversal of the Kanawha Circuit Court’s order, contending that it alleged sufficient facts in its amended complaint, that if considered as true, would entitle it to relief.
NEW CUMBERLAND – An Ohio woman blames her injuries on a Northern Panhandle casino. Vivian Roman filed her complaint in Hancock Circuit Court against Mountaineer Park Inc. doing business as Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort.
