CHARLESTON – District Judge John T. Copenhaver has ruled that local workers who lost only their wages during the January 2014 chemical spill and the water crisis that followed won’t be able to continue their lawsuits against West Virginia American Water.
CHARLESTON – The U.S. Justice Department says the owner and former property manager of a Cross Lanes apartment complex has agreed to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit. Perkins Parke Apartments has agreed to pay $120,000 in damages and civil penalties to settle the suit alleging that three former agents sexually harassed and retaliated against female tenants, which is a violation of the Fair Housing Act (FHA).
WINFIELD – A Putnam County attorney is suing a Winfield automotive shop and an insurance company after his vehicle wasn’t properly repaired. Richard Lindroth filed his complaint last month in Putnam Circuit Court against Greg’s Automotive and State Farm Automobile Insurance.
CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County woman is suing Lowe's Home Centers LLC after she claims she and her unborn child were injured during a fall at a Lowe's store. On July 2, 2013, Sarah Cook went to Lowe's in Cross Lanes and, when she entered the store, she slipped in water that had accumulated on the floor, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court. Cook claims she fell, hitting her side and head on the concrete floor of the store and she lost consciousness after hitting her head. At
