CHARLESTON – Beth Walker’s state Supreme Court campaign has responded to an attack ad from personal injury lawyers it says includes “false claims based on misleading evidence.” A political action committee called Just Courts For WV began running television ads earlier this week against Walker, according to documents with the Secretary of State’s office.
CHARLESTON – A handful of lawsuits were filed Friday related to 2014’s Elk River Chemical Spill. Saturday, Jan. 9, was the two-year anniversary of the incident that left about 300,000 residents without access to tap water for nine days.

WHEELING – The parents of a former Wheeling Jesuit University student have filed a federal lawsuit against the two men who allegedly “viciously attacked” their son, resulting in his death, and the two Wheeling bars that allegedly served the men. Thomas and Valerie Figaniak filed the lawsuit on behalf of their son, Kevin Figaniak, who was a 21-year-old student at Wheeling Jesuit in 2013. The Figaniaks filed their lawsuit Aug. 24 in the U.S.
