    HUNTINGTON – A Cabell County lawmaker says he won’t seek re-election for the House of Delegates, and he says he might consider a run for state Attorney General. Doug Reynolds issued a press release Oct. 26 saying he has opted to not seek another two-year term in the House. “It’s the end of October, and I thought I should make the announcement so others who might want to run for the House can get started on their campaigns,” the Democrat said Monday.

    HUNTINGTON – A lawsuit filed earlier this year against the Cabell County Board of Education alleging injuries of a minor child has been dismissed. The plaintiffs announced they had reached a settlement with the board and both parties jointly moved that the matter be dismissed with prejudice, according to the dismissal order.     WINFIELD – A Cabell County woman blames a hospital, physician and nurse for missing signs that her sister was about to have a stroke. Joyce L. Stevens, the sister and Power of Attorney for Sharon E. Burge, filed her complaint Sept. 15 in Putnam Circuit Court against Pleasant Valley Hospital Inc., Dr. Zachary B. Adkins and Shelly Willham, a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Burge is a resident of Racine, Ohio.

    HUNTINGTON – Some current and former Cabell County homeowners have filed lawsuits accusing a Barboursville-based bank and two of its managers of a fraudulent loan scheme. The First State Bank as well as FSB President Sam Vallandingham and FSB Vice President Andrew Vallandingham are listed as defendants in the lawsuits filed by Timothy and Regina Adkins, Larry and Brittani Williams and Vickie Rule in Cabell Circuit Court.

    CHARLESTON – A Huntington woman currently serving time for embezzling thousands from a former employer has asked a Kanawha County judge to order the West Virginia Parole Board to turn over a recording of her parole hearing, along with other requested documents. On Aug. 10, 2013, Tara Scarberry was inside the Best Buy store in Barboursville when her right foot and leg penetrated a section of the floor, causing her to suffer injuries, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.
