WINFIELD – A Putnam County couple's lawsuit seeks damages from the dealer and
manufacturer of their air conditioning system over alleged defects in materials
and workmanship.
WINFIELD – A Putnam County man is suing the executor of an estate after he claims a last will and testament was a forgery. On May 17, 2014, Lorene F. Melton died and on Jan. 29, a document purporting to be her last will and testament was recorded in the county, according to a complaint filed April 1 in Putnam Circuit Court.
HUNTINGTON – A lawsuit against Wal-mart for an Achilles’ tendon injury has been dismissed from federal court. The lawsuit was dismissed on Jan. 12 by District Judge Robert C. Chambers after the plaintiff, Jennifer Bradshaw, and Wal-mart resolved all issues involved in the complaint and moved to have the lawsuit dismissed. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice.
WINFIELD – The Auto Club Group is seeking an interpleader action involving policy limits and a car accident that caused one death and multiple injuries. The Estate of Melisha Dailey Jividen; Brenda Demoss; Kenneth Demoss; Christopher Higginbotham; Glen Michael Jividen; and Emilee R. Craigo, individually and as next friend of Violette Craigo and Avery Craigo were all named as defendants in the suit.
WINFIELD – The grandson of the founders of a Poca funeral home is suing the current owners, who already were facing legal troubles. J. Michael Gatens III filed his lawsuit Feb. 12 in Putnam Circuit Court claiming Chad Harding owes him $113,000 on a promissory note as well as interest. Harding is the owner of Gatens-Harding Funeral Home and has been accused of falsely reporting 111 deaths to an insurance company, allegedly to collect pre-need funeral services.
