Outside counsel policy ends cronyism, saves millions
CHARLESTON – West Virginia taxpayers deserve transparency, competitive bidding and millions of dollars in cost savings, all of which my administration delivered with its implementation of an outside counsel policy.
Wal-mart sliced Achilles' case settled, dismissed
HUNTINGTON – A lawsuit against Wal-mart for an Achilles’ tendon injury has been dismissed from federal court. The lawsuit was dismissed on Jan. 12 by District Judge Robert C. Chambers after the plaintiff, Jennifer Bradshaw, and Wal-mart resolved all issues involved in the complaint and moved to have the lawsuit dismissed. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice.
Verizon wage payment violations lawsuit dismissed
WHEELING - A lawsuit against Verizon Wireless for allegedly violating the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act has been dismissed from federal court.
Man accuses painter’s union of age discrimination
CHARLESTON – A man is suing the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades after he claims he was discriminated based on his age and his employment was wrongfully terminated. International Union of Painters and Allied Trades-District Council 53; Daniel J. Poling; Brian Stanley; and Glenn McEndree were also named as defendants in the suit.
AG's office secures $19.7M for consumers in debt collector settlement
CHARLESTON — West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's office has announced nearly $20 million in debt cancellation for West Virginia consumers as part of a settlement with a debt collector.
Manchin to host town hall meeting on Supreme Court nominee
CHARLESTON – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin will hold a town hall meeting next week to talk to West Virginians about President Barack Obama’s nominee for Supreme Court. Obama has nominated Merrick Garland for Supreme Court earlier this week. The town hall meeting will be held on March 24.

CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man is suing his former employer for making an alleged procedural error when it eliminated his position without calling a public meeting.

LOGAN – A Logan County woman who serves on active duty in the U.S. military says her bank repossessed her vehicle after she was transferred to California.

CHARLESTON – A woman is filing a lawsuit against Primecare Medical of West Virginia over claims that its negligence caused the death of an inmate at Eastern Regional Jail.
