Court sets 2016 interest rates on judgments and decrees
CHARLESTON – The Administrative Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has set the interest rate at 7.00 percent for judgments and decrees entered during the 2016 calendar year. A law passed in the 2006 legislative session requires the Administrative Office of the Supreme Court annually to determine the interest rate to be paid upon judgments or decrees for the payment of money, including pre-judgment interest. The judges granted an order granting the respondents’ motion for summary judgment, according to the Jan. 4 order. The three-judge panel included Judges Phillip D. Gaujot, John W. Hatcher Jr. and Timothy L. Sweeney.
Hall's resignation could alter party control of state Senate
CHARLESTON – The resignation of a state senator could mean big changes in the state Legislature. Wyoming County Senator Daniel Hall submitted his letter of resignation Monday. He is taking a job as a state liaison for the National Rifle Association. Typically, such a resignation means the party's executive committee of that representative’s district selects nominees for a replacement. Those names are sent to the governor for him to pick the replacement.
